Two London-based restaurants have been celebrating big this weekend as the National Curry Awards announced their winners.
In a tough competition, the two winners from the region were The Lane Restaurant and Asif Iqbal from Manjal Restaurant Group for Chef of the Year.
The National Curry Awards were first launched in 2019 to help promote the businesses of the Asian catering industry as well as the creative and talented chefs within the industry.
This year, the awards ceremony will take place on October 16 in the House of Lords, the Palace of Westminster.
Two London restaurants win big at the National Curry Awards
The Lane Restaurant in East London won Restaurant of the Year and describes itself as serving "fine Indian Cusine" adding that dishes are "steeped with only the freshest spices, chilli peppers and subtlest of flavourings."
On the popular public review site, Tripadvisor, it has a rating of 3.5/5 with over 80 reviews as one visitor shared: "Amazing food, friendly staff and well priced! Can’t fault it Loved the free drink at the end."
Another shared that they thought the food was 'delicious', writing: "Delicious high-quality food, we ordered here for the first time after a recommendation and it was well worth it. Perfectly on time, very good quality meat and very highly flavoured."
The awards show on October 16 will see winners and guests attend along with Sir Graham Brady as the chief guest, Members of Parliament, business leaders in the catering industry and more.
The National Curry Awards are organised by Mr Abdul Ahad Chowdhury who shared that he congratulates all of the award winners for their hard work and devotion to the industry.
