The body of a woman, 74, has been found by police in West Wickham and is believed to be a woman reported missing from Beckenham two weeks ago.
Police were called to Cherry Tree Walk at 6.20pm on Saturday, September 23 where they found a woman who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman’s family has been informed.
Her death is being treated as unexpected and further enquiries are being carried out to establish the circumstances.
A post-mortem examination will take place on Tuesday, September 26.
While the woman, named only as Sandra, has not yet been formally identified, police believe her to a woman reported missing from Beckenham on Monday, September 11.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at 6.20pm on Saturday, 23 September after the body of a woman was found in woodland near to Cherry Tree Walk, West Wickham.
“Officers attended and A 74-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The woman's family have been informed.
“The death is being treated as unexpected and further enquiries are taking place to establish the circumstances.
“A post-mortem examination will take place on Tuesday, 26 September.
“Whilst formal identification is yet to take place, we believe the woman was reported missing from Beckenham on Monday, 11 September.
“Her family have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this time.”
