A Beckenham pub has reopened after being closed for six months following a rebrand and revamp.
The new pub, Erin’s, is operated by Beckenham resident Austin Whelan and is named after his daughter.
Erin’s, formerly known as the Manor House, reopened on Thursday, September 21 after a £750,000 makeover.
Austin already owns another Beckenham pub, The Elm Tree, in Elms End which is run by his company, AK Whelan Management.
With his daughter’s name above the door, Austin’s aim was to create “the best pub on the high street, appealing to workers, young professionals and local residents, with children welcome until 7pm”.
The layout of the pub has been reconfigured to seat 206 people with a new central bar being the focal point and the rest of the pub has been separated into different zones for different purposes.
In one part of the pub, there is a softer seating area and at the back there are raised areas for entertainment or functions.
There is also a sports area with 11 screens for fans to enjoy matches.
To the front of Erin’s, there are bifold doors where Austin hopes that people will use during warmer months.
The pub is themed to look and feel like a modern Irish pub with shop fronts, mirrors, bric-a-brac, and a dark blue, maroon and gold colour scheme creating what the pub describes as “an opulent effect”.
The menu at Erin’s will feature pub classics such as sea bass, ham hock, egg and chips, fish and chips and sharing platters.
Food will be available daily from 12pm to 10pm.
The drinks selection here includes cocktails, a selection of whiskeys and gins, cask and craft beer, cocktails and barista-quality coffee.
Austin’s plans for Erin’s are for it to lay on regular weekly live entertainment, show BT and Sky Sports on a high-spec AV system as well as host quizzes, coffee mornings and private functions.
Austin said: “As a resident myself, I know what a fantastic place Beckenham is, so I’m delighted to be opening a premium local on what is a very busy high street with lots of great hospitality venues.
“With all the redevelopment in the area, Erin’s will be a good fit.
“Having put my daughter’s name on the door, you can be sure that it will be somewhere special offering great service.
“I want to create a premium local that Beckenham residents can be proud of.
“To give locals a flavour of what Erin’s will offer, there will be music from Robin McManners when we open on Thursday, a soul night on Friday with local DJ Eric G, and on Saturday live music by the Lorraine O’Riley band followed by a DJ.”
