Some London pubs have been pouring themself an extra drink today as three locals won big at the 2023 edition of the Great British Pub Awards.

The annual awards see pubs from all over Britain go head to head as they hope to take home the trophy in their categories. 

The nominations for the Great British Pub Awards were announced a few months ago with only a few London based shortlisted. 

Now, following an awards ceremony in Manchester, the winners have been announced and three London pubs were successful.

Three London pubs win big at the Great British Pub Awards

Winning the Best City/Urban Pub, The Turk's Head in Twickenham was described as being a "great all-round local community hub with an energetically welcoming."

Set near Twickenham stadium, The Turk's Head welcomes all from " choir, a running club, and regular comedy, jazz, soul, blues and big band nights."

Alongside its great atmosphere, The Turks Head was also praised for its "brilliant food and drink offering" with 31 beer taps and a well-run team.

Fellow London pub The Kings Arms in Bexleyheath took home the Best Pub for Entertainment.

The Kings Arms regularly hosts events, including weekly live music, pub quiz nights and film screenings on their roof terrace. 

Sharing their happiness, The Kings Arms team took to Instagram to say: "This is the effort of a team over 5 years, well-done everyone that has created this."

The Woodman Pub in Pinner & Ruislip won the Stonegate Group Pub Partners Pub of the Year.

The popular local is a traditional pub full of character and offers classic drinks with simple dishes done well. 

As the pub says there are "real ales to a wide selection of gins and great wines" as well as "British dishes, made from the best seasonally sourced produce."

This year, the Great British Pub Awards saw a record number of pubs enter the competition. 

The winners were chosen by industry professionals and had to make it through two tough rounds.
