A drug dealer from Upper Sydenham who was involved in the sale of crack and heroin has been jailed for four years.
Simba Chani, 26, appeared at Inner London Crown Court for sentencing on Wednesday (August 30) after pleading guilty to be concerned in the supply of Class A drugs, possession of a knife and possession of crack cocaine.
The court heard that Chani was involved in a county lines operation between March and December 2022.
Judge David Spens KC said Chani played a significant role in the operation.
Chani was arrested on December 27 last year on Collyer Place in Peckham.
He was found to be carrying a knife and a quantity of crack.
The court was told that Chani became the breadwinner for his family at a young age.
He had lawful employment until he suffered a workplace injury, at which point he turned to a life of drug dealing.
“He’s been on the wrong path, but he hopes to get off that path,” Chani’s barrister said.
Chani, of College Road, was jailed for four years.
