A 40-year-old family-run Indian restaurant in Orpington has won a national award and has made the finals to potentially win another three this year.
The Bombay Restaurant in Orpington recently won Best Restaurant at the British Bengal Curry Awards (BBCA) 2023.
The British Bengal Curry Awards celebrate the best of Britain’s curry industry, and finalists are selected based on nominations from customers and industry judges.
Alongside winning at the BBCA, the Bombay Restaurant has also been nominated for three other food awards.
The Bombay Restaurant has been named among the finalists for Best Restaurant in Bromley at the Curry Life Awards 2023, Best Restaurant in the Asian Curry Awards 2023, and Best Restaurant at the BCA Curry Awards 2023.
The Bombay Restaurant is a family-run and owned business which is currently co-run by Kobir Hussain and his two brothers Sah and MJ and owned by their uncle for the last 40 years.
The restaurant serves traditional Indian cuisine, with their most popular dishes being tandoori dishes and their masala dishes.
It also offers four unique dining spaces including a jungle inspired area for families and a more formal area for events and parties.
Kobir said the awards marks the first award that the business has won since the 90s and has given the family a great sense of pride.
Speaking on the restaurant’s recent success, Kobir said: “There are no words to describe it.
“It’s just phenomenal.
“It's all thanks to the customers who voted and the colleagues who are working hard.”
