A family-run vegan bistro in Peckham is in the final to win a regional award in this year's Food Awards England.
Naifs, located on Goldsmith Road in Peckham, is a family-run vegan bistro serving a range of plant-based dishes.
It’s one of ten restaurants that have been nominated to win the Regional Restaurant of the Year in the South East, alongside Peckham-based restaurant En Root.
This year marks the eighth edition of the Food Awards England, which brings together a selection of restaurants, chef’s eateries, and suppliers from across England to celebrate their passion and dedication to the food industry.
Naifs has been selected following nominations from the public and joins a mix of diverse food businesses nominated to win across England.
The restaurant is open from Thursday – Saturday from 6pm and takes its inspiration from multi-dish dinners like Greek meze.
Naifs was founded by Michelin chef Tom Heale, formerly a chef at Vanilla Black, and offers diners a relaxed place to enjoy vegan dishes.
The restaurant also serves a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, including their menu of botanical cocktails and in-house kombucha and cold brew teas.
The restaurant is also popular for its five course Set Meal using seasonal produce at £30 per person.
Some of the dishes include options like their Grilled portobello & smoked king oyster mushrooms with cauliflower skordalia & salsa verde, and the Warm butter bean salad with BBQ seabeet, samphire & broad bean pesto.
The winners for each category will be announced on October 9 at an awards ceremony taking place in Birmingham.
Speaking on the news, a spokesperson for Naifs said: “We are very happy to be nominated and especially honoured to be in the company of so many other vegan and vegetarian businesses we respect greatly.”
A spokesperson for the Food Awards England said: “In a country with so many food establishments and businesses, it can be hard to stand out.
“However, the 2023 finalists have all been distinguished as the real masters in their field due to their hard work and dedication to customer satisfaction.
“Moreover, their success isn’t just about their dedication to leaving every customer satisfied. It’s also a story that reflects the resilience and creativity of countless chefs, producers, employees and managers who are always ensuring that locals and visitors eat well.
“We would like to wish all finalists the best of luck.”
