I was invited to stay in the 100 Queen’s Gate Kensington hotel for a night and I feel like I can now say I’ve had celebrity treatment.

I got off of the tube at South Kensington station and the hotel was only around the corner about a five minute walk away.

The area is beautiful and streets are dotted with cute bakeries and wine merchants.

But the grand entrance to the hotel was what made my jaw drop with white pillars on either side of the door, luscious plants and flags that read “Queen’s Gate” dangling from the first floor.

We were staying for one night in one of the hotel’s deluxe suites, all of which are named after a historic figure which adds a quirky twist to the room - ours was the Captain Robert Falcon Scott suite.

When I opened the door and laid eyes on the room it just screamed luxury.

The suite is set over two floors with a living area at the bottom and a bedroom and bathroom above.

The living room in our suite was adorned with a burnt orange sofa and rich navy walls lined with beautiful, old books.

There was even a fireplace opposite the sofa, making the room feel all the more cosy.

Upstairs, the space was equally as breathtaking.

Falling onto the enormous, king-sized bed felt like falling onto a cloud and while I was excited to explore the room more, I couldn’t wait to head to sleep that night.

The bathroom mirror was lined with light, making it feel glamorous and special and the bath itself was absolutely massive.

There was also a dressing table in the bedroom with a big mirror which I used to get myself ready to head down to the incredible Cento restaurant inside the hotel.

What struck me first was the restaurant’s décor - the interior is bursting with colourful flowers.

Once we had been seated, the restaurant manager came over and asked us what we would be eating so that he could pair a suitable wine for us.

After telling him that we were choosing primarily fish dishes, he offered us a Chablis to drink with our food.

The wine was rich and citrusy with mineral notes and all the more special because it had been chosen to go exactly with out food.

To start, I ordered the burrata which came with an asparagus salad sprinkled with lemon and olive dust.

As a huge burrata fan, I was thrilled to receive a ball of the creamy cheese on a bed of fresh, crunch asparagus – the perfect summery salad.

My boyfriend chose the calamari which were full of flavour and came with a lemon and black pepper mayonnaise.

For my main course, I couldn’t resist the lobster ravioli which came in a creamy bisque with heritage tomatoes and fried basil.

This I the perfect dish for someone who loves both fish and tomatoes – which happen to be two of my favourite things.

It was both creamy and fresh, garnished with some chilli giving it an added kick.

My boyfriend opted for the risotto al nero which is a squid ink risotto which came with calamari, asparagus and lemon.

As you would expect, the risotto came black which was really interesting to see.

It was fishy in the best way, rich and creamy just as a risotto should be.

Not forgetting dessert, I chose the warm chocolate cake which came with vanilla ice cream.

It was actually one of the vegan options but you wouldn’t know it – the cake was dark and moist and drizzled with a delicious chocolate sauce.

Another amazing choice was the cornetto e gelato which my boyfriend went for.

It was a warm croissant with ice cream and a chocolate and hazelnut sauce – a classic Italian dessert.

After dinner, we popped downstairs to the ESQ bar which was very cool and fun, selling snacks and more casual food for any guests looking for an alternative to Cento.

We were brought some complimentary corn chips as we perused the menu and eventually settled on a glass of prosecco and a glass of limoncello, both of which were a great way to finish the evening.

The next morning, we were excited to nip back downstairs and get some breakfast before checking out.

The breakfast spread at this hotel is one of dreams – anything you could possibly imagine was available.

You name it: Bacon, pancakes, pastries, cereals, meats, cheeses, baked beans, sausages, juices, waffles, the list goes on.

We went up to the buffet a few times to sample as many of the mouthwatering options available as we could and it’s safe to say we were stuffed by the time we checked out.

I was definitely sad to be leaving such an incredible spot by the time checkout came.

The 100 Queen’s Gate South Kensington hotel is a glamorous and luxurious place to stay when paying a visit to London, or even just for a night away if you are already here.

All of the staff went above and beyond to be attentive, helpful and kind, making our stay truly special.

I will definitely be back next time I want a lavish weekend away!
