A South East London Integrated Care Board spokesperson said: “We are working with individual practices in Bexley to ensure that everyone in the borough can access high quality primary care services when they need them.

"As the NHS continues to recover from the impact of the Covid pandemic, while facing increased demand and recruitment challenges, we are working together to tackle the most common issues raised by patients: getting through to their practice, speedy access to appointments and more face-to-face contact.

“Practices are now offering more evening and Saturday appointments and we are working with them to improve telephone and online access.

"Practices now also host care co-ordinators who, where appropriate, can direct patients to other sources of health advice as well as a wide range of new roles providing specialist advice and support e.g. pharmacists, paramedics and physiotherapists.

“NHS England has also recently published the health service’s first national workforce plan and a national primary care recovery plan centred on improving access.

"They were both backed by major investment - and all our practices are committed to working with the ICB and the wider Bexley Wellbeing Partnership to improve access and the overall experience of primary care.”
