This week marks Love Parks Week 2023, a week celebrating parks and green spaces across the country.

So, what better time is there to enjoy some of the beautiful green spots that south London has to offer?

We have compiled a list of five incredible parks for you to visit this weekend before the summer comes to a close.

Greenwich Park

Greenwich Park is one of the largest single green spaces in south London.

It’s massively popular when the sun is out and people are looking for a spot of greenery to unwind and enjoy the weather.

Nestled in the heart of Greenwich, there are plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants around the park for anyone looking to make it a day out.

Richmond Park

Richmond Parks is the largest of the royal parks, giving visitors the feel of being in the countryside whilst actually being in London.

It is a rare haven for endangered species such as stag beetles, bats and moths.

There are also miles of horse riding trails and paths to run or walk on.

Wimbledon Common

A well-loved feature of Wimbledon Commons is the windmill, which was built back in 1817 and is an interesting landmark for all ages to visit.

There are also activities such as horse riding, golf, cycling and dog walking which people are able to enjoy here.

Wimbledon Common is also the south London park with the lowest pollen count for any hayfever sufferers wanting a day out in some greenery.

Crystal Palace Park

Crystal Palace Park is best known for its iconic dinosaur sculptures, adding a unique touch to the park.

It also has a skate park, a maze and a sports centre, making a great day out for all of the family.

Battersea Park

Battersea Park is a large (200 acre) Victorian park, built between 1854 and 1870.

It has a riverside promenade, a large lake, lots of trees and ecological areas.

There are also children’s play areas, a children’s zoo and sports facilities to be enjoyed.
