I went to a mozzarella bar in London, and there was so much mozzarella I actually didn’t know what to do with myself.

You could have mozzarella with literally everything.

I went to the Obica in Poland Street, Soho, which is one of three of its restaurants in London – the others in St Pauls and in Canary Wharf.

News Shopper:

There are other Obica restaurants all over the world, including in various Italian locations, Japan and Portugal.

To be honest, it seems only right that the rest of the world gets to try the same mozzarella that I did.

At the top of the menu there’s basically a variety of mozzarella dishes that you can order – on their own, with other dishes, or as a mix of the two.

News Shopper:

The idea is that you can then order some small plates to go with your choices from the mozzarella bar.

There’s also some salads, pizza, pasta, seafood and meat for mains – of course, all of which can be ordered with a partnering from the mozzarella bar.

My friend and I went for some dinner, and it was busy considering it was a Monday evening.

I can only attribute this to the top notch food, service, setting and vibe.

To start we had a mozzarella overload, naturally, and got carried away with how appealing the mozzarella bar on the menu was.

News Shopper:

My friend ordered the prosciutto, and I had a burrata with datterini tomatoes, along with some small mozzarella balls and tomatoes to share, with a bread basket.

We went mozzarella mad, and it was cheese overload, but I’m not complaining.

The cheese was melt-in-the-mouth, fresh, and the Italian tomatoes were absolutely divine with it.

It would have been rude not to indulge so much, and considering mozzarella is the only cheese I actually like, this was extra special.

For mains I chose the tuna salad and my friend had the potato gnocchi which comes with prawns.

News Shopper:

We both chose to miss out on the mozzarella offering with our mains as we had indulged so much with our starters, but they were equally as tasty on their own.

The portion sizes were decent and the ingredients fresh.

For dessert I had a fresh fruit salad and my friend had the tiramisu – which she absolutely loved.

The portion I’d say was big enough for two, but it was one that could definitely just be eaten alone too.

The service was really good, the waiters friendly and helpful, and we really enjoyed the chilled vibe of the restaurant.
