If there is one thing London is not known for its cheap rent, as any Londoner will know, the cost of living is not cheap.
With prices for a single room averagely starting at £700, it is nearly impossible to get an entire flat for less than £900.
Renting in London is not getting any cheaper either, with data from the Office of National Statistics finding that the average private rent in the capital has increased by 4.3% in the last year.
That includes many areas of South East London, with many boroughs now seeing the average asking price a month set at £1000.
But how much does £1000 can get you across South East London?
Well, we thought we'd find out by comparing four boroughs across the region including, Bromley, Abbey Wood, Lewisham and Plumstead.

How much will £1000 rent get you a month in South East London?
Bromley
Costing slightly more than £1,000 at £1,050, this studio is simple with plenty of potential. Located on the third floor, it is partly refurbished with a spacious layout, with one large room with a full kitchen, and a bathroom.
It is also in a good area being within walking distance to both Beckenham Hill and Ravensbourne stations and plenty of green spaces.
Abbey Wood
Priced at exactly £1,000 a month, this one-bed flat in Abbey Wood might not be massive but it does offer great aspects.
With a longue, bedroom, small kitchen and shower room all on offer. Set on the top floor, it's described as "a must-view" and is also close to stations, plus council tax and water costs are included in the rent.
Lewisham
At £1,000 a month, this Lewisham-based studio flat is definitely cosy with room for a bed and some more furniture.
Available for two tenants, pets are not allowed and there is also no garden access or parking available. However, it is in a great location with it being just off Lewisham High Street and near train stops.
Plumstead
This £1000 flat has a lot to offer, as it is partly furnished and student-friendly, it is within walking distance to two train stations and has a fixed £20 a month water bill.
With wooden flooring and an open-plan kitchen and reception area, it also has a washing machine, a spacious bedroom with double-glazed windows and a three-piece bathroom suite with clean top-to-bottom wall tiles.
Would you pay £1000 a month for these flats?
