If you are looking for an evening of luxury and glamour, Quaglino’s is the spot for you.
Just a short walk from Green Park station, the bar and restaurant is in the heart of Mayfair.
When I stepped inside, I felt as though I was stepping into the setting of a lavish party in The Great Gatsby.
Quaglino’s actually has a dress code which I found very exciting as I knew I was in for an evening of elegance and escapism and I wasn’t wrong.
The restaurant’s interior is beautiful, with candlelit tables and massive flower arrangements at the bar.
The walls are lined with beautiful paintings and we were lucky enough to visit on an evening when live music was playing.
The music was jazzy and smooth, setting a relaxing tone while we enjoyed our meal.
Staff at Quaglino’s are extremely attentive and thoughtful, making sure that everything is perfect so that you can enjoy your evening.
We began our meal with a glass of fizz and some delicious bread and butter as we perused the menu and chose our dishes.
Quaglino’s sommelier chose a crisp and fresh bottle of chardonnay for us to sip whilst we ate, an added touch that made the evening all the more special.
To start, I opted for the watercress velouté with a Charlotte potato.
I was blown away by how fresh and flavourful the soup was, it was definitely a dish designed for spring.
My partner went for the beef tartare which was fresh and rich in flavour
Our main courses arrived quickly afterwards, and I was delighted with my choice of cod on a bed of buttered spring vegetables.
It was fresh and light, but I was also stuffed by the end.
Our waiter suggested ordering a side of mashed potatoes and, I have to say, they were the creamiest potatoes I have ever eaten.
My partner had a roasted ballotine of guinea fowl which was moist and delicious and the mousse inside was packed with rich flavour.
And finally, we couldn’t forget dessert.
A fondant is my absolute favourite type of dessert, so I was thrilled to see the Valrhona chocolate and praline fondant with du leche ice cream on the menu.
The menu outlines that you need to allow the kitchen 12 minutes to prepare this dessert which was well worth it when my dessert arrived warm and melting.
There is no greater pleasure, in my opinion, than dipping your spoon into a chocolate fondant and seeing it melt and fall apart.
My partner went for the savoury option and ordered the selection of French artisan cheeses which came with quince jam, seeded crackers and homemade fruit and nut crackers.
