In the first half of May a number of south east Londoners have been jailed for various crimes including a 17-year-old murderer, an ex-police officer and a man who attacked his neighbour with a machete.
Here’s a rundown of the criminals who are now behind bars.
Long Vu
Long Vu, 47, was jailed after he attacked his neighbour with a machete in an argument over a parking spot.
There had been a long-running dispute between Vu and the victim, who complained that Vu often blocked access to his driveway on Shawbrooke Road in Eltham.
The dispute escalated as the victim’s wife made a report to police that she and her daughter were being followed by Vu on their way to school or to the shops.
On Saturday April 9 last year the victim returned home from work at which point Vu started attacking him and his van with a machete.
Vu then chased the victim down the street, swinging his machete, until a brave neighbour intervened and restrained Vu.
The victim of the attack was not injured but said his family have been deeply traumatised.
Vu was jailed for eight year.
Marques Walker
Marques Walker, of Jennifer Road in Bromley, was jailed after he stabbed 14-year-old Jermaine Cools to death in Croydon.
Walker, now 17, was aged 16 on November 18, 2021 when he entered a fight, pulled out a knife and ran towards Jermaine who was on the floor defenceless. He stabbed Jermaine seven times.
Walker then ran off through the streets of Croydon still carrying the knife while Jermaine was rushed to hospital where he died.
Jermaine’s mum, Lorraine Dudek, said: "I will never forgive the defendant for taking my baby away from me, and robbing me of the opportunity to see him turn from a boy to a man."
A fugitive hunt lasted for nearly six weeks until on December 27 was finally arrested when officers went to an address in Upper Norwood about an unrelated matter and found Walker inside.
Walker was charged with the murder and remanded to HMP Feltham, where guards found rap lyrics in his cell which bragged about his attack on Jermaine.
The lyrics said: “We had mummzy grieving. I left mandem spleeching. I had mandem looking at his wounds like s**t den I think I’m bleeding."
Walker was given a life sentence with a minimum term of 19 years before a parole board can consider releasing him.
Amy Byrne and Harry Angell
Amy Byrne and Harry Angell, of Downbank Avenue in Barnehurst, was jailed after they sold sick, dying kittens in a twisted £280,000 scam.
Byrne was a serving British Transport Police officer when alongside her partner Angell she bought and bred kittens for sale.
When customers received their new pets many found that they were malnourished, ill and covered in their own urine or faeces. At least six cats died soon after being sold.
The couple used at least 33 different fake names in their adverts, including claiming to be from Cat Cuddles Rehoming which is a genuine charity. On another occasion they used the ID of someone who had purchased a cat off them to advertise other kittens.
Byrne, 30, lied to buyers that she was a vet and that the kittens had been wormed and microchipped but health certificates provided turned out to be fake
One victim told the court that she arranged to buy a male kitten off Byrne and Angell as a surprise for her autistic son who had recently lost his cat.
Her son made a thank you card for Bryne which she accepted as she dropped off the kitten.
After Byrne left the mum realised the kitten was female, emaciated and had diarrhoea stuck in her fur. The kitten died a short time later.
Angell was jailed for three years and four months, while Byrne was jailed for three years and eight months.
Joyce Lusadisu
Joyce Lusadisu, 19, was jailed after she lured a boy to a south London train station then stabbed him while filming him on his own phone.
The victim, a 15-year-old boy, had recently had an argument with Lusadisu when he received a message from an unknown man asking to buy a pair of trainers.
The boy arranged to meet with the unknown man at Mitcham Junction Railway Station at around 8pm on November 12, 2021.
When he arrived at the station he was confronted by a group of three or four masked men and Lusadisu, who was 17 at the time.
One of the men threatened the victim with a 15-inch rambo knife and ordered him to hand over his coat, shoes and unlocked phone.
The group then filmed as they punched and kicked him in the head and body, before Lusadisu stabbed him twice in the thigh and ankle with an eight-inch knife.
Lusadisu was jailed for 45 months. None of the other participants in the attack have been arrested.
Lusadisu said she became associated with people in gang activity as a means of fitting in. Members of these gangs often encouraged her to commit random acts of violence in order to prove herself.
James Golding
James Golding, of Swingate Lane in Woolwich, was jailed for sending sexual messages to kids.
He started sending the messages just days after he had been released from prison for molesting an eight-year-old boy in a McDonald’s toilet.
The 26-year-old was jailed for four years in 2017 after he followed the eight-year-old into a toilet cubicle, touched his penis and then covered his mouth while he digitally penetrated him.
Golding was released from prison in December 2021 but just days later he was offending again by messaging children online.
He pretended to be a 15-year-old boy while speaking to a 13-year-old and incited the young boy to send sexual photos.
Officers also found extreme videos of children on his phone, including videos of children he had sent to other perverts.
Golding was jailed for five years and four months.
Doctor Obinna Obeta
Doctor Obinna Obeta, of Hillbeck Close in Peckham, was jailed after being found guilty of exploiting a young man with the intention of illegally harvesting his kidney.
Nigerian Senator Ike Ekweremadu, 60, and his wife Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu, 56, were also jailed for their part in the plot.
The victim, who is 21 years of age, came from a remote village in Nigeria. He was deceived into being trafficked to the UK for the purpose of having his kidney removed and then donated to the daughter of the Ekweremadus.
He was led to believe he was being brought to the UK to earn money for his family.
On February 20 2022, the victim was brought to the UK in the company of Isaac Onwudiwe Ekweremadu, and taken to Obeta's flat in Southwark.
On February 24 2022, the victim attended his first medical screening at the Royal Free Hospital in London.
The court heard how it became apparent to the doctor carrying out the screening that the victim had limited understanding of why he was there.
After several appointments the victim realised he was to donate a kidney. The consultant picked up the fear and panic this caused the victim. The hospital went on to decline to complete the procedure.
Obeta was jailed for ten years, while Senator Ekweremadu was jailed for nine years and eight months and his wife was given four years and six months.
