It’s not everyday you eat a luxury Italian dinner in a grade-II listed building which is the former home of the British Linen Bank, is it?!

Well, no, but it can be if you want, and if I had it my way I really would eat there everyday.

Piazza Italiana is a breathtakingly beautiful Italian restaurant, bar and event space in the City of London.

News Shopper:

It’s home is the former British Linen Bank and it has a menu of classic dishes from all over Italy, wine and cocktails, and some gorgeous event spaces.

The ceilings are high, have stunning detailing on and the restaurant’s interior is elegant and classy.

I went for dinner there on a Saturday night, and the atmosphere in the main restaurant was calm and up-market, while you could hear a fun party going on in one of the event rooms upstairs.

To start with, my boyfriend and I chose the Tartare di Tonno – a yellowfin tuna tartare with avocado mousse and slow-cooked egg yolk, along with the creamy Insalata di Pomodori e Burrata which was burrata cheese with oxheart tomatoes.

Both tasted delicious, fresh and were generous in portion size.

News Shopper:

For main course I chose the spaghetti pomodoro – which yes, I know, is sometimes a bit boring, but it’s my favourite and the Piazza Italiana chefs did it justice.

The tomato sauce was fresh, sweet and saucy – which is one of my pomodoro requirements as I hate when there isn’t enough sauce going on!

My boyfriend had the asparagus and prawn risotto and he gave it a top five star rating too.

News Shopper:

The food was really, really GOOD food and you could tell that everything was made with fresh, good quality ingredients.

I had the passione cocktail to drink with my meal which was white rum paired with Campari, Passoa, pineapple and lime juice.

Fruity drinks are my go-to so this one really hit the spot.

For dessert I had a scoop of mango sorbet and a scoop of the vegan chocolate sorbet, and my boyfriend had the lemon pavlova.

News Shopper:

My raging sweet tooth means dessert is my favourite part of any meal and this one definitely didn’t disappoint.

That chocolate sorbet was something of dreams.
