Bromley’s best decorated Coronation shop has been revealed after the Mayor of Bromley awarded the winning shop with a prize.

Yesterday, on May 5, the Mayor of London paid a visit to the winning shop, Francis Chappell & Sons, in Bromley town centre.

Bromley shops were invited to decorate their store fronts for the Coronation, for Bromley’s best decorated shop, with over 70 businesses nominated to win.

A member of the team at Francis Chappell in Bromley had knitted a Coronation crown, along with a display featuring a knitted King Charles.

The winning shop was presented with a £100 gift voucher that had been donated by the Glades. An additional £50 gift card was also presented to one of the photographers who nominated the winning shop.

Councillor Hannah Gray, the Mayor of Bromley, said: “I have seen many illustrious shop displays from across the borough and am so pleased to award this prize to Francis Chappell and Sons from what was a very competitive field

“Thanks to all the residents who sent in their impressive photos of these shops that have captured just some of the Coronation enthusiasm that has been sweeping across Bromley.

“I look forward to seeing even more of Bromley’s great community spirit on show as I tour the borough’s street parties over the bank holiday.

"I never fail to be impressed by the commitment of our residents and businesses, proving once again that we are proud of Bromley!”

Yesterday the Mayor of London also planted an English oak in the grounds of the Queen’s Gardens in the town centre to commemorate the Coronation.

The gardens were previously visited by Her Late Majesty in 2012 for her Diamond Jubilee, and today a screening of the Coronation will take place in the grounds there.

Over 170 street parties will be taking place in the Bromley area this weekend.
