If you live in Kent and are looking for a great activity to do this summer, this is the one for you. Whitstable Paddles is a business located at the Water Front Club in Whitstable that offers paddle boarding lessons, paddle board hire and holds a paddle boarding club twice a month.
Whitstable Paddles was founded just after the covid-19 pandemic by firefighter, Rob Lindley. Rob previously worked in primary schools promoting fitness and health with his former business, “Firefighter Fit Kids”. When he could no longer get back into schools because of covid, he launched Whitstable Paddles which satisfied his love for being outside.
Paddle boarding lessons are £30 and last for one hour. These consist of an introduction to water safety and how to be safe on a paddle board. To hire a paddle board for an hour is £15 and the club has an insurance membership of £35. The club is for any age and all abilities and they welcome people with no experience. Although the times and dates for the club alternate each month depending on the weather and the tide, you can contact Whitstable Paddles to access any further details at 0775 3333730.
Whitstable Paddles’ main focus is giving people a good understanding of how to be safe at sea. They aim to build a community of people who share a love for being outside. Rob Lindley, owner and founder of Whitstable Paddles, says, “Whitstable Paddles’ mission is to get as many people using Whitstable beach as possible and see huge numbers of people out on the water, paddling safely, and building a huge community of like-minded people that want to be outside, enjoying what we have on our doorstep in a safe, professional manner.”
As well as providing a great way to spend your time, Whitstable Paddles also do a lot of work for their campaign, “Paddles Against Poo”, which seeks to raise awareness of pollution in the water.
