A Bromley man was taken to court after his neighbour complained that his hedge was too tall.
Malin Joseph Ngoie, the owner of a property on Bromley Common, was ordered to reduce the height of his hedges by the council after a complaint from his neighbour at the end of his garden.
The neighbour told Bromley Council that the height of Ngoie’s hedges were adversely affecting the reasonable enjoyment of their property.
Ngoie then failed to reduce the height of his hedges within the compliance period, between October 2022 and February 2023.
The case ended up at Bexley Magistrates’ Court where he was found guilty by Single Justice Procedure, which allows courts to dispense justice behind-closed-doors without representation from the defendant.
Ngoie was fined £220, ordered to pay costs of £282 and a victim surcharge of £88.
