Lewisham Council is exploring early plans to potentially pedestrianise Montpelier Vale in Blackheath.
The proposal to potentially pedestrianise the shopping street in Blackheath Village have been put forward in an agenda by Lewisham Council to be discussed this month.
Montpelier Vale in Blackheath is one of the locations across Lewisham where the council is exploring schemes to “improve the public realm.”
The plans are currently at the preliminary design stages and any proposed plans will be subject to consultation with Blackheath residents and businesses.
Lewisham Council “will continue to work on projects to make Lewisham a cleaner and safer environment as well as tackling the Climate Emergency”.
A spokesperson for Lewisham Council said: “Montpelier Vale is one of a number of locations in the borough where we are exploring potential schemes to improve the public realm through pedestrianisation.

“This scheme is still only at the preliminary design stage and any proposals brought forward would be subject to consultation with local residents and businesses.

“We will continue work to progress these projects as we look to create a greener, cleaner and safer Lewisham, as well as tackling the Climate Emergency.”
