A car crashed into a traffic island this afternoon (April 8) causing traffic chaos after the road was blocked.
Police were called at 2.59pm after reports that a driver had crashed with a traffic island causing a highway obstruction in both directions on Penge High Street.
The road was cleared by 4pm and congestion began to ease.
Nobody was hurt in the crash and it was described as “damage only incident” leading to no arrets.
A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at 2.59pm on Saturday, 8 April to reports of a collision at High Street, Penge.
“At the scene a vehicle had collided with a traffic island causing a highway obstruction.
“This was a damage only incident.
“No injuries. No arrests.”
