Fire fighters have issued a warning after the cause of a Bexleyheath care home fire has been revealed.
The fire is believed to have been accidental and involving a hairdryer at a hairdresser on the ground floor of Parkview care home on Woolwich Road.
Eight fire engines and 60 firefighters were at the scene to tackle the blaze at 11.40am yesterday morning (March 31).
Part of a hairdressers on the ground floor of a care home was damaged by the fire.
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental and involving a hairdryer.
Heavy smoke logging was reported on the ground floor and four people were rescued from the building by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus.
They were taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews due to suffering from smoke inhalation.
Three other people were led to safety by firefighters.
The fire was under control by 1.02pm.
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: "Remember that hairdryers, hair tongs, and straighteners can get extremely hot, so it’s very important to remember to switch them off and leave them to cool on a heatproof surface.
“The Brigade was called at 11.26 and the fire was under control by 13.02.”
They added: “Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters tackled a fire at a property on Woolwich Road in Bexleyheath.
“Part of a hairdressers on the ground floor of a care home was damaged by fire.
“Heavy smoke logging was reported on the ground floor.

“Four people were rescued from the building by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus.
“They were taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews suffering from smoke inhalation.
“Three further people were led to safety by firefighters.
“Around 30 people left the building before firefighters arrived.
“The cause of the fire is believed to have been accidental and involved a hairdryer.
“Crews from Sidcup, Eltham, Bexley, East Greenwich and surrounding fire stations were at the scene.”
A spokesperson for London Ambulance said: "We were called at 11:46am today (30 March) to reports of a fire on Woolwich Road, Bexleyheath.
“We sent multiple resources to the scene, including four ambulance crews, three incident response officers, one advanced paramedic and several members of our Hazardous Area Response Team (HART).
“We treated five people at the scene for smoke inhalation before taking four of them to hospital.”
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at 11:48hrs on Thursday, 30 March to a report of a fire on Woolwich Road, Bexleyheath.
“Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service and a road closure was put in place.
“A number of people were treated for smoke inhalation.
“Enquiries remain ongoing.”
