We asked our readers what their favourite things to do in south east London are during the springtime and we’ve rounded up some of them.

From going to see seasonal blooms like Cherry Blossom and Daffodils to going further afield and taking a day trip to the coast, here’s what you could be getting up to this spring.

See the Cherry Blossom at Greenwich Park

Cherry blossom season is about to start in London and very soon London’s parks will be blooming with beautiful pink cherry blossom.

There are many places to see the cherry blossom in London, but one of the Instagram hotspots exists right here in south east London.

Greenwich Park hosts an impressive line of cherry blossom trees which lead up towards Bridgerton filming location, The Ranger's House.

Be prepared to be an early bird and get there in the morning if you want to get the best shot.

See the daffodils

Nothing says spring like daffodils and south east London has some very beautiful places to see them in bloom.

Greenwich Park is teeming with daffodils at this time of year, with one of the best spots to see them being outside of the National Maritime Museum.

Severndroog Castle in Oxleas Woods is another great spot to see them with views of the 18th century building in the backdrop.

Go for a spring walk with the dog

South east London is home to many beautiful parks and green spaces with plenty of lovely places to take your dog for a spring walk.

Whether you want to stroll around the old ruins of Lesnes Abbey in Abbey Wood or take a walk by the River Cray in Five Arches in Sidcup – there are so many places to enjoy spring with your dog.

Take a trip to the beach

As the weather gradually begins to get that little bit warmer, it will be a great time to head down to the coast.

Spring trips to the seaside may not be as warm as summer, but going to the seaside in spring offers a more peaceful and less busy time to be by the coast.

There are some beach locations you can travel to from south east London stations like Bromley North or Orpington.

You could easily take a day trip to Whitstable from Bromley South for as little as £18.20, where you can stroll around the pretty streets, taste their famous oysters, do a spot of shopping, and grab yourself some fish and chips from one of the many chippies there.

From as little as £19.60 you can get a train from Orpington to Hastings, where you can check out Old Hastings for some great shops and picturesque streets, or take the East Hill Lift to see views from above.

Take a walk along the River Thames to see Tower Bridge

You can talk a walk by the Thames to see views of Tower Bridge on the riverside which offers some great photo opportunities.

Birdwatching

Spring is a great time of year to look and listen for all the different species of birds as they begin to build nests for their young.

Head to Hall Place in Bexley where you’ll be able to observe birds in their designated “Bird Hide”, which displays lots of information on the types of birds you can expect to see and how to identify them.
