Today we remember the victim who was killed in a shooting one month ago today in Erith.

Kai McGinley, 24, was shot dead in Pembroke Road at 8.50pm on February 9.

Officers found him suffering from a gunshot wound a short distance away in Hillside.

Despite attempts by the emergency services to save his life, Kai died shortly after.

Kai’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

On March 7, two men, aged 20 and 18, were arrested on suspicion of murder. 

The pair remain in police custody.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “The two men – aged 20 [A] and 18 [B] – were arrested late on Tuesday, 7 March on suspicion of murder. They remain in custody.

“Police were called at approximately 20:50hrs on Thursday, 9 February to reports of shots fired on Pembroke Road in Erith.

“Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found 24-year-old Kai suffering with a gunshot injury.

“Despite the best efforts of emergency services to save him, Kai died at the scene.

“Kai’s next of kin have been notified and they continue to be supported by specialist officers.
