Let’s be honest, we’d all probably rather be holiday-ing it up in Italy right now rather than being in London.

The culture, the food, the settings, the food, the sun, and did I mention the food?

If you’re dreaming of this like I am, it might not be too farfetched.

I recently discovered a restaurant in London that makes you feel like you’re in Italy, and not just because of the food.

The setting at Como Garden in Kensington is one to be dreamed of, with Lake Como-inspired green-leaf walls, and a stunning lit-up tree in the middle of the restaurant.

I went on a Thursday night, because after all Thursday is the new Friday.

It was busy, buzzy and had a romantic, vibey atmosphere.

We started off with the Lago Amaranto cocktail, which according to the menu is a “Como Signature”.

News Shopper:

It was suitably sweet, definitely alcoholic, and gave me that “on holiday in Italy” feeling.

For starters, my dining partner and I shared the Burrata with Pesto and Datterini Tomatoes salad.

I’m a real sucker for Burrata, and I’d like to think I’ve had my fair share at Italian restaurants across London.

I do find myself saying this quite a lot, but the one at Como Garden was one of my favourites.

The tomatoes fresh, the pesto tasty and the cheese perfectly cheese-y, without feeling too filling.

We ordered the fried zucchini with this, and these were also divine.

News Shopper:

I reckon the portion was around nine fries in total, but they were relatively thick which made them filling enough.

They weren’t too greasy, and were a lovely taster of what was to come.

For main course I tried the Sea Bass Alla Siciliana – which was pan seared sea bass with cherry tomatoes.

Admittedly I don’t often go for cooked fish in Italian restaurants, and I am usually more of a pizza or pasta person, but this fish was succulent and cooked to perfection.

News Shopper:

My dining partner had the Truffle & Ricotta Tortelloni alla Carbonara – and said this was delicious as well.

We had chips and broccoli to go with our mains, and they were cooked to perfection and were a good addition.

If we hadn’t already had enough food by this point, which, by the way, we definitely had – it would have been rude not to order a dessert.

A couple of pornstar martinis and a glass of Italian white wine down, I’m not one to say no to any kind of chocolate.

We didn’t actually look at the dessert menu, but instead went with the dough balls recommended by our friendly waiter.

He said they come in around eight-a-portion, filled with chocolate, caramel and pistachio.

Well, wow.

News Shopper:

That’s pretty much all I can say.

I was bursting at the seams, but chocolate filled dough balls was exactly what I needed on a delicious food and alcohol lined stomach.

I really enjoyed the restaurant, I’d recommend it to anyone, and I’d definitely go back.
