A pub in Chislehurst has been named the best pub in Bromley, according to the local branch of Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA).
The Cockpit, based in Chislehurst Commons, opened just over two years ago and beat out competition from thirteen other pubs in the borough to be named best pub in Bromley, 2023.
All pubs are nominated and judged by Bromley branch members, ensuring that this award is truly the voice of local drinkers.
Adam Miller, manager of The Cockpit, said: “To win pub of the year feels fantastic, especially with so many pubs lost to the pandemic and cost-of-living crisis.

“Beer is in our blood, but people are our passion, so the whole team works hard to create a place where all feel welcome.
“With so many cracking pubs in Bromley right now, it is a real honour to come out on top this year.”
With a record number of fourteen pubs nominated across Bromley, this has been a great year for great pubs and beer, but the pressures on people’s finances remain a huge danger to beer and the night-time economy across the borough.
Peter Norwood, pub of the year co-ordinator for Bromley CAMRA, comments: “Congratulations to The Cockpit.
“We are immensely proud of the many pubs serving brilliant beer across Bromley.
“Whether you want a cosy country inn or a pub selling the latest in craft ale, this really is a borough of beer.
“Times are hard for all of us, but pubs are a crucial part of society for so many.

“Every time you grab a glass of something in one, it could keep a great pub open.”
As pub of the year in Bromley, The Cockpit now goes forward to the CAMRA 2023 Greater London pub of the year judging process.
Bromley CAMRA awards pub of the year and club of the year on an annual basis, although this was disrupted by the pandemic restrictions.
This year’s club of the year, according to CAMRA, is The Orpington Liberal Club.
A previous winner of the award, The Star and Garter, Bromley, was runner-up.
