With temperatures set to drop this week, the Met Office has revealed the likelihood that south London will see snowfall.

The Met Office has said that we will feel colder weather over this week, with high pressure coming from the north west of the UK.

Throughout this week, there may be some rain showers but overall the weather is forecasted to be dry and cloudy.

However, the Met Office has suggested that there is potential for snow at the weekend depending on how the current pressure in the north west moves, but it’s ultimately too soon to be able to know for sure how this will affect London.

A Met Office spokesperson said: “London should see mid to high single figures with a cool breeze coming off from the east it will feel much colder for many through the weekend and into early next week.

“The set up is something called a blocking high where high pressure stays fairly consistent to the north west of the UK from Saturday onwards into early next week and what that does is reduce the chances of significant rainfall of any kind and it’s cloudy and dry out for the majority of the country.

“For London specifically, it is one of the areas where there is a chance early next week of some showers just gradually moving in off of the eastern coastal areas.

“So, we might see some sporadic showers on Saturday afternoon and indeed on Sunday.

“On Sunday, there’s just a chance because of how cold the air will be of some of those showers moving into the south east of the country being sleety in nature on Sunday morning but it will be fairly light and it isn’t going to accumulate to any kind of effect on Sunday morning.”

Next week, the weather is set to be dry with some chances of showers depending on how the weather in the north west moves.

A spokesperson added: “As we move through next week there will be chances of showers at times but largely dry with cloudy skies through the week.

“As we go to later next week and next weekend, that’s right at the edge of how far in advance we can forecast for specific regions.

“It’s coming down to how this pressure in the north west moves away as to the conditions we get.

“There’s a chance of a windy and rainy breakdown but also a chance that high pressure will cling on longer.”
