A video, which nearly has 40,000 views on Twitter, shows the scene of a fatal crash in Woolwich last night. 

Police were called at 7.30pm yesterday (February 19) to reports of a motorcycle crash with a group of pedestrians on Plumstead Road, near the junction with Lenton Street.

Emergency services attended the scene and four people – a motorcyclist and three pedestrians - were involved.

One of the pedestrians, a male, was pronounced dead at the scene – there has been no further details about him at this stage.

The other three people have been taken to hospital for treatment; police do no not currently know their health conditions.

The video, shared on Twitter by @JamesDelamare, shows a group of blue light vehicles at the scene.

He said there were at least 15 to 20 emergency services on the scene, with both roads blocked up.

 

In the caption, it says "Huge accident in Plumstead.

"At least 15 - 20  emergency services on the scene.  

"Both roads blocked off."

A large amount of road closures were in place last night and enquiries into the circumstances continue.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said:  “An investigation is under way following a fatal collision in Greenwich.

“Police were called at approximately 19:30hrs on Sunday, 19 February to reports of a motorcycle in collision with a group of pedestrians in Plumstead Road, near the junction with Lenton Street, SE18.

“Officers, London Ambulance Service and the Air Ambulance all attended the scene.

“Four people – a motorcycle rider and three pedestrians - were involved. Despite the best efforts of the emergency services one of the pedestrians – a male (no further details) died at the scene.

“The other three people have been taken to hospital for treatment; condition awaits.

“A large amount of road closures remain in place and enquiries into the circumstances continue.

“Anyone with information at this early stage that could assist police is asked to call 101 or tweet @MetCC and quote CAD 6036/19Feb.”
