A Bromley nursery has made the leap from 'inadequate' to 'good' by Ofsted in its most recent report.

Baytree House Day Nursery was previously inspected in July 2022 and evaluated as 'inadequate' by Ofsted.

However, the nursery has taken major steps to rectify this and when inspectors visited in January 2023, the rating was upgraded to 'good'.

Inspectors were impressed that there are strong relationships between staff and children and that staff know the children’s personal preferences and interests well.

Children have their home routines matched at the nursery which makes them feel “safe” and “secure”.

Parents speak highly of the nursery and partnerships between staff and parents are strong here.

A parent portal and regular newsletters at Baytree House Day Nursery help parents to stay in the loop with their children’s progress and staff changes.

Children with SEND are well supported and their care plans are “well understood by key persons”.

In the report, inspectors said that the deputy manager is “undertaking a relevant qualification to further strengthen this work”.

Ofsted recognised the changes that have been made to improve the nursery to such an extent following its previous inspection.

The report says: “The manager is highly motivated and has taken swift action to improve since the last inspection.

“Robust monitoring has been put in place to ensure that good practice continues to be embedded. Staff feel well supported through regular supervisions and team meetings.

To improve, inspectors suggested that Baytree House Day Nursery continues to develop strategies for children who speak English as an additional language so that they can hear and use their home languages regularly.

They also encourage the nursery to make sure children have enough time to develop their own thoughts and ideas when they are playing.
