New data from the 2021 Census has revealed the number of people in south east London who do not have a religion.
The most religious south east London borough is Bromley where just 37.3 per cent of the population identifies as non-religious.
Following closely is the borough of Lewisham, where 36.7 per cent of the population do not have a religion.
In Dartford, 36.5 per cent of residents are not religious and in Bexley, it is 33.6 per cent of residents who are not religious.
Greenwich is the south east London borough with the lowest number of non-religious residents as only 32.6 per cent of people do not identify as religious.
Here is the data on each south east London borough:
Bromley: 37.3 per cent
Bexley: 33.6 per cent
Greenwich: 32.6 per cent
Lewisham: 36.7 per cent
Dartford: 36.5 per cent
Data from the 2021 Census saw an increase in the number of people reporting that they were not religious.
The national average of people in an area who do not identify as religious was 37.2 per cent.
However, in 2011 this figure was 25.2 per cent.
Aside from the borough of Bromley, this puts south east London below the national average of non-religious residents per area.
