There are fears that “someone could have been killed” after a crash in Shooters Hill which happened on a road in the ice that had “not been gritted”.
A car crashed into a wall in Constitution Rise on January 23 at 8am, and a resident living nearby claims this was caused by the untreated and “neglected” road.
The 60-year-old claimed he saw multiple cars skidding down and almost crashing on the road during the icy conditions in late January – and said this could have been avoided with gritting.

Greenwich Council has refused to comment on the matter.
The anonymous resident told the News Shopper: “The crash could have been avoided if it the road was gritted on the day.
“It just irresponsible really, we should all be kept safe on the streets when we leave our homes.
“I feel that Constitution Rise is just ignored because I did not see the road gritted during the freezing conditions.”
The resident says the icy conditions also make it almost “impossible” to do daily activities, making him feel “trapped” at home.
He added: “It’s difficult for me because I don’t really want to go out in a road where I can see cars sliding.
“What about if a car hits me? What do I do then.
“So I feel that I have to stay at home but how can I do my shopping and go to the doctors.
“But after seeing that car smash into the wall, I have to prioritise my safety, so I guess I have no choice.”
He has called for Greenwich Council to take responsibility and “confess” that the crash was caused by the road not being gritted.
He continued: “I think Greenwich Council do need to take some responsibility here. I would like to know if the road was gritted.
“Someone could have died in that that crash or seriously been hurt.
“It might not have happened this time but we need to be careful if it freezes again.”
The News Shopper reached out to Greenwich Council for a comment regarding gritting on Constitution Rise on January 23.
