The transition between GCSEs and A-levels can be hard to picture before you start. "The Sixth Form experience is an expected step up from GCSEs and whilst the workload is larger with fewer it isn't unbareable. However, increased range of study is great!"- Scarlette Pope & Lily Payne current year 12 students.
Here is my guide to success to grow and become your best self in to enjoy your Sixth form experience!
- Start strong- Keep up to date with work and research beyond your required course to extend your knowledge. This will make it easier to refer to later in the year.
- Work- Life Balance- Especially at the start of the year it can be difficult to start a fresh without it being daunting. Whilst it is important to work hard, making sure you have time to relax and socialise is equally important. Dividing your free time between the two will protect your mental and physical wellbeing.
- Subject Choices- when doing your subjects, it may be difficult at times but overall be enjoyable. If you are struggling with your subjects reach out to your teachers and ask advice; it can be scary but in the long run it will be easier to fix small issues now rather than let them grow. As well as that, if you feel a subject is not what you expected do not be frightened to change or drop a subject, your priority should be you!
- Opportunies- take all the opportunities you can whether university talks, career talks, work experience or even social events. Sixth form is a great time to challenge yourself with new adventures and ideas. It will help with university applications further down the line but also help you grow as a person.
