BROMLEY Council is offering to collect up to three items from people's homes for recycling during April and May for free.
The items should be light enough to be lifted by two people and should not include fridges, garden waste, soil or rubble.
Council environmental promotions manager, Kay Spurrier, said: “The idea will help residents avoid unnecessary trips to the tip and will help the environment.
“We will be sending leaflets through everybody's door in March, giving the date and details of your free collection.”
She added: “If you can't wait until April to dispose of your unwanted goods, you could offer unwanted items to charity.”
The council also offers a chargeable service for the removal of bulky waste and you can find out more by calling the cleansing office on 020 8313 4557.
