A Wetherspoons pub in Greenwich is almost ready to open its doors, an exclusive first look has revealed.
The Stargazer pub, located inside the O2’s Entertainment District, will officially open on March 21.
The pub, reportedly worth £3 million, features a 3,800-square-foot beer garden with views across the Thames and Canary Wharf.
An artist’s impression reveals what the pub will look like once the works have been completed.
It shows a bright light-fitted neon sign, which reads: “The Stargazer, Wetherspoon Free House.”
A spokesperson for Wetherspoons said on January 5 that although the date has been confirmed, this could be subject to change.
Tim Martin, a chairman for Wetherspoons, said he is delighted to announce the opening and that the venue will prove to be popular with all customers.
He explained: “The Stargazer will join a dynamic and varied mix of over 30 bars and restaurants in The O2’s Entertainment District.
“As well as its extensive leisure line-up which includes outlet shopping with over 60 brands at up to 70 per cent off RRP at Icon Outlet, TOCA Social, London’s largest cinema Cineworld and more, further adding to the destination’s family-friendly, day-come-night offering.”
The O2 is located just 15 minutes from central London and is accessible by road, tube, and boat.
Janine Constantin-Russell, managing director at the Entertainment District and Icon Outlet at the O2, is “thrilled” to welcome a Wetherspoons pub in the arena.
She explained: “Like the O2, Wetherspoon is a household name.
“We are proud to celebrate both national and independent brands here at The O2, and look forward to The Stargazer opening in what will be an exceptionally strong year at the destination, with a fantastic line-up of events plus more dining, shopping, and leisure options than ever before.”
The full statement from Wetherspoons said on January 5: “The opening date is currently showing as 21 March 2023, however, this date is subject to change.”
