Six properties have been left flooded after a water main burst in Eltham.
Emergency services rushed to the scene in Eltham Road this morning (January 6) to resolve the issue.
Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters are currently at the scene.
Pictures from the scene show that water has flooded parts of the road going toward shops and restaurants.
It also shows the road cordoned off by a Metropolitan Police car as the incident is dealt with.
Thames Water apologises to anyone experiencing low-pressure or no water at their homes.
It also confirmed that engineers are currently on site to shut off the flow from the water burst.
People are being advised by London Fire Brigade to avoid the area as road closures are in place.
Closures are in place from A2212 Burnt Ash Road (Lee Green) to Weigall Road, according to AA maps.
There are currently no reports of any injuries.
The full statement from London Fire Brigade said: “Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters have been called to flooding on Meadowcourt Road in Blackheath and Eltham Road.
“Crews are working to divert flood water after a water main ruptured, flooding an area of around 600m x 200m.
“Six properties have been affected by flood water.
“There are currently no reports of any injuries.
“There are significant road closures in place and buses are being diverted. People are advised to avoid the area.
“The Brigade was called at 0438. Fire crews from Lewisham, Eltham, East Greenwich and surrounding fire stations are at the scene.”
The full statement from Thames Water said: "We’re really sorry if you have low pressure or no water following a large burst pipe early this morning on the A20 Eltham Road, in SE12.
"We’re on site and working to shut off flow from the burst. Once we’ve done this, supplies should start to return to the affected area.
"We’d also like to apologise to drivers affected by the closure of the A20."
