In 2022, we saw many banks across south London permanently close their doors.
The closures were announced as more people turned to online and mobile banking, according to an analysis by Which?
HSBC alone lost 69 bank branches across the UK in 2022- it had already shut 82 branches in 2021.
A total of seven of those were in south London. August saw the most closures with five banks closing their doors.
These were in Eltham, Sidcup, Penge and Peckham.
We used data from LINK, which shows the banks that publicly announced their closure within the year.
So, here’s the list of banks we lost across south London in 2022:
