A school in Erith has closed following the failure of its heating system.
Harris Garrard Academy, in Yarnton Way, confirmed students were sent home around midday on Monday (December 12).
A spokesperson for the school said the system broke down in the morning but was “successfully” fixed in the afternoon.
The heating was restored before students returned to school on Tuesday (December 13).
It also confirmed that additional heaters have been put into “larger” classrooms.
The school is now open as usual.
The full statement from Harris Garrard Academy on December 15 said: “Our heating system broke down on Monday morning.
“Pupils were sent home at around midday and engineers quickly and successfully fixed our system over the course of the afternoon.
“It was back up and running by the time pupils returned to school on Tuesday morning.
“Where some of our larger classrooms have been slow to come up to temperature again, we have put in additional heaters.”
