Police have issued a statement after a four-car crash on the M25 near Orpington.

It happened on the anti-clockwise carriageway between junctions 5 and 4 at 4.07pm on December 2.

National Highways announced on Twitter that all traffic was stopped to clear debris from the incident.

Traffic was then released by National Highways at 5pm as cars involved in the crash were moved to the hard shoulder.

No injuries were reported following the incident.

A spokesperson for Kent Police said : “Kent Police was called at 4.07pm on Friday 2 December 2022 to reports of a collision involving four cars on the anti-clockwise carriageway of the M25 between junctions 5 and 4.

"No injuries were reported."

National Highways tweeted at 4.45pm on December 2: “NEW INCIDENT M25 anti-clockwise between J5 (#M26) and J4 (Bromley Orpington) in #Kent. Traffic stopped due to a 4 car collision and debris in the road.

“@KentPoliceRoads @SECAmbulance and our #trafficofficers on scene. 30 min delay and 5 miles of congestion.”

A further tweeted issued by National Highways at 5pm on December 2: “CLEARED #M25 anti-clockwise between J5 (#M26) and J4 (#Bromley #Orpington) in #Kent. Vehicles from the earlier collision moved to the hard shoulder and debris swept up.

“Traffic released in all lanes. Delays remain in the area though due to time of day and volume of traffic.”
