Police have issued an update on the condition of a stabbing victim in Woolwich.

The incident happened in Herbert Road just before 4pm on November 17.

Officers and London Ambulance Service crews attended and found a man injured. 

The man was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said today (December 3) that the man is now in a stable condition.

Another man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm at the scene. 

Officers say he has been released with no further action.

Police enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing. 

No further arrests have been made following the incident. 

Herbert Road was closed both ways between Eglinton Road and Plumstead Common Road until around 12pm on November 18. 

Anybody with information on the incident is asked to call 101 and quote reference CAD 4816/17OCT22.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said on November 17: “We were called at 3.57pm hours on Thursday 17 November to reports of a man stabbed in Herbert Road, SE18.

“Officers attended and found a male-no further details- with a stab injury.

“He was taken to hospital by the LAS; his condition is currently deemed as life threatening.

“A male was arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. He remains in police custody.

“A crime scene remains in place.

“A Section 60 CJPO has been authorised until 07:50 hours on 18 November in the area of Woolwich and Plumstead.

“If anybody has information regarding this incident, please contact 101 quoting CAD 4816/17OCT22.”

A further statement from Metropolitan Police today (December 3) said: “The victim remains in hospital in a stable condition.

“There have been no further arrests. Enquiries continue.”
