One of London’s most iconic buildings is set to dazzle the capital with a brand new light show this Christmas.
Shard Lights will see the top 20 storeys of western Europe’s tallest building lit up with a display designed to celebrate London this Christmas.
The light display will be set to a “bespoke” audio track that will be available to stream online - in sync with the light show.
Londoners will be able to listen to the soundtrack, featuring sounds from the waves of the Thames to the bells of St Paul’s.
Using updated energy efficient LED lighting, Shard Lights 2022 will begin at 6pm on Tuesday, December 6 and will continue from 17.30 every evening until New Year’s Eve.
Organisers say the light show hopes to “brighten up the winter evenings for all Londoner’s commuting home”.
Running since 2013, Shard Lights has become a regular feature in London’s festive calendar; with each year featuring a unique display designed to celebrate the people and spirit of the Capital.
Visible from over 40 miles away, the dazzling display is estimated to be the most viewed seasonal light display in the UK, with many of London’s eight million residents able to enjoy a glimpse as they travel around the city.
Real Estate Management (UK) Limited (“REM”), asset manager for The Shard, has collaborated with renowned lighting designer, Woodroffe Bassett Design, to create the installation alongside London-based sound artist Brigitte Hart.
