A police crackdown on anti-social behaviour lead to 20 drivers fined in Greenhithe last weekend.
Kent Police say they have been made aware of cars frequently visiting Crossways Boulevard and speeding, driving dangerously and causing noise and disruption.
Police have said that the area should “not be treated as a racetrack” and “measures that will ensure those committing offences are identified and dealt with accordingly”.
Officers have been patrolling the area and asking the nuisance vehicles to leave.
Between Friday, October 21 and Saturday, October 22, officers from Kent Police and Dartford Borough Council visited the area and issued 20 people with £100 fines.
Police said the fines were issued for reasons such as car cruising and driving in a convoy which means that cars were driving too close and in a chain.
Three drivers were also reported for traffic offences after they were seen speeding.
A Public Space Protection Order had also been put into place in the area.
Kent Police Community Safety Unit Inspector Trevor Jenner said: “This weekend officers took robust action to ensure those motorists seen committing anti-social behaviour were dealt with appropriately.
“We understand the concern local residents and businesses have and are working closely to ensure a long term solution is reached.
“This area should not be treated as a racetrack and is not a safe or suitable place for groups of motorists to meet.
“We will continue to patrol the area and are working with partners to implement measures that will ensure those committing offences are identified and dealt with accordingly.”
A spokesperson for Kent Police said: “Twenty drivers have received fines as part of ongoing work to crack down on anti-social behaviour in Greenhithe.
“In recent weeks Kent Police has been made aware of reports of nuisance vehicles frequenting Crossways Boulevard.
“The vehicles have been reported speeding, driving dangerously and causing noise and disruption.
“In response to the reports officers have regularly patrolled the area and instructed motorists to leave.
“A Public Space Protection Order has also been put in place and Kent Police has been working closely with local businesses and stakeholders, including Dartford Borough Council, to address the ongoing issues.
“Between Friday 21 and Saturday 22 October 2022 officers from Kent Police and Dartford Borough Council visited the area where 20 drivers were issued with £100 Fixed Penalty Notices.
