Meet the UK’s youngest star baker from Bromley - a tot with a special culinary talent she discovered at the age of just one.
Little foodie Izzy Mafo, now five, has a talent for baking and cooking that her mum, Barbara, 31, discovered when her daughter was still a baby.
She says Izzy was fascinated with playdough and ‘messy play’ - putting flour and water into the oven and watching it transform.
She loved watching cooking programmes on TV and her mum thought she may as well try her hand with a proper recipe for baked goods.
Soon the little cook was baking cakes and cooking meals for the whole family, she even put together her own cooking book - Little Chef Izzy’s Ultimate Recipe eCookbook.
Since starting school, Izzy has less free time to bake but enjoys whipping up a storm in the kitchen every weekend with her mum.
Barbara, a mental health nurse, from Bromley, said: “Her favourite thing to bake is a sprinkle cake.
“It’s so easy but tastes delicious, Izzy loves mixing and decorating the cake with icing.
"Izzy always loved loved listening to the muffin man and was amazed watching it on TV.
"She loves exploring new recipes and we spend our weekends experimenting in the kitchen.
"Maybe when she's old enough she will apply to go on Bake Off herself."
When the mini chef was at nursery she brought in her cooking book and baked cookies with all of her classmates.
The mum and daughter spent the entirety of Covid lockdowns baking and rustling up new recipes.
Izzy now has 9.1k followers on Instagram and has collaborated with brands such as Petits Filous.
Barbara says one of Izzy's favourite things to bake is a lemon cake.
Barbara said: “She absolutely loves lemons.
“I sometimes have to knead for her when she bakes bread because her little hands get tired.”
Izzy has also recently made a salmon wellington and even knows how to make sushi.
''At first she would mainly just get involved in the mixing and she'd help with the icing," Barbara said.
''I then started to record little videos to show friends and family which people loved and she's now got her own Instagram page - Little Chef Izzy - so everyone can keep up to date with her latest dishes.
''I'd love her to forge a career as a chef or a baker one day - she has a serious passion for it."
Izzy has made hundreds of creations including cheesecake, sponge cakes, cupcakes, apple crumble, cookies, butter biscuits, blueberry cake, banana cake and brownies, to name but a few.
Her mum added: “I soon realised watching her cook and bake she becomes really focused."
When she's not in the kitchen, the energetic five-year-old is dancing or at gymnastics.
“Of course, she’s only five she still makes a little bit of mess but she can do all the mixing herself," Barbara said.
“We will be tuning in to Bake Off every week, Izzy loves watching baking programmes on Netflix and Youtube.
"I love watching her being creative and using her instincts."
