Looking for a new restaurant to try can always be a bit of a struggle if you’re not sure what to expect from an eatery.
However, now thanks to the helpful world of social media, many food fans have been using their free time to share the best local restaurants.
And that’s no different for South East London, with the popular Instagram account South East Foodies giving the best recommendations for locals across London, Kent and Essex.
It even has a TikTok account that has over 20,000 followers and four million views; their reviews for must-try local independent places to eat have reached far and wide.
One spot the foodies shared is the ‘hidden Italian gem’ Melucci’s based in Old Bexley.
Bexley’s Melucci’s named must try restaurant
The post was first posted back in February 2021 when travel was still restricted due to Covid guidelines, seeing the South East Foodies describe the hidden gem as feeling “like you’ve stepped into Italy.”
The authentic deli is run and owned by an Italian family, who according to the social media users have ‘BIG Italian personalities’.
Melucci’s offers everyone’s favourite Italian delicacies with loads of yummy traditional pastries and other Italian favourites like the popular arancini balls.
However, the foodies did suggest that you head down early to the popular Italian deli as they often sell out.
Many food fans agreed with South East Foodies, with one commenting “What a find, looks like a great spot” and another writing “The food here at a weekend in the evening is so good.”
Melucci’s has an Instagram account of their own, with nearly 10,000 followers, sharing their latest creations from gorgeous cakes to yummy pasta.
Just a few days ago the family-run restaurant shared how they made their homemade fresh ham and ricotta cheese-filled panzerotti.
