NEW kennels for police dogs in Kent are going to be opened this Friday, in Stockbury.
Chief Constable Sir David Philips will open a new kennel block containing nine kennels, a medical room, a dog bathing facility, a whelping unit and a food storage block.
There is also a new office, kitchen, bedroom, toilet, showers and a bathroom for dog handlers. These improvements will allow the Dog Section to introduce its own breeding programme for German Shepherds, springer spaniels and labradors.
The kennels at Stockbury, which house 56 police and search dogs, were opened in 1973 following the conversion of a former police house on the site.
