Live coverage of the state funeral service of Queen Elizabeth II at Westminster Abbey will be shown on a large screen in Queens Gardens on Monday, September 19.

The screening will follow events from 9.30am onwards with the funeral timed from 11am.

Residents may choose to come together in Queens Gardens to mourn our Sovereign and in support of this a large screen will be positioned in the gardens to stream the proceedings.

Those who would like to go may wish to consider bringing warm clothes, deck chairs and refreshments as required.

At this time of national mourning, Bromley residents who are wishing to pay their respects to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, can do so in Bromley by signing one of the Books of Condolence located in the Civic Centre and in libraries around the borough.

Floral tributes can be placed in Queens Gardens in Bromley Town Centre.

Books of Condolence are available at the Civic Centre and at the following library locations during opening hours:

• Civic Centre, Committee Room

• Biggin Hill Memorial Library

• Central Library, Bromley

• Orpington Library

• Beckenham Library Messages of Condolence can also be passed on to members of the Royal family by visiting the Royal website.

Memorial tribute flowers can be laid in an especially designated area of Queens Gardens in Bromley, where the Mayor of Bromley and the Deputy Mayor laid flowers on behalf of the Council and residents.

Residents and visitors laying flowers in Queens Gardens are asked to remove packaging or wrapping from flowers before laying the flowers down, with a bin nearby for this waste if needed.

It is also asked that artefacts are not left with any of the flowers.

A live stream of a Service of Commemoration for Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will be available for residents to view online on Sunday, September 18 at 10.30am.

To watch this service, which can only be attended in person by invited guests, click here just before 10.30 am when the service begins.

The Mayor of Bromley, Councillor Hannah Gray said: “Many of us will want to reflect at home or travel to central London to witness the proceedings on the day of the funeral of our late Queen Elizabeth II, but for those who would like to come together more locally, you are very welcome to congregate in Queens Gardens to watch the proceedings on the large screen.

“Last time we were together in Queens Gardens was to celebrate the happy occasion of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

“On Monday, it will be a much more sombre day as we pay our respects to a Sovereign who chose to visit our borough on five occasions over her lifetime and who will be sorely missed.

“The screening in Queen’s Gardens is intended to offer solace and a chance to reflect collectively, for those who wish to do so, during this sad period of public mourning.”
