PARENTS of a toddler who was killed by a speedboat six years ago are on their way to the Bahamas to testify in the trial.

Two-year-old Paul Gallagher, of Repton Road, Orpington, died after being hit by an unmanned, unlicensed and unregistered speedboat, which mounted the beach where he was sleeping in August 2002.

News Shopper launched its Justice For Paul campaign, and last year charges were brought against boat driver James Bain and craft owners Clifford Nottage and Evangeless Williamson.

They are all charged with manslaughter through negligence, while Williamson faces an additional charge of perjury.

The toddler's mother Andrea and his father, who is also called Paul, flew from Heathrow Airport to Nassau today (April 8) for the trial and hope a conviction will mean justice for their son.

Speaking at the airport Mr Gallagher said: "It has been a hard fight to bring the boat owners and boat driver to court and we have had to put our lives on hold to do this but we believe that a conviction will mean justice for our son - who had his whole life ahead of him."
