A FLAG is being flown at half-mast at the Thames Barrier following the death of its security manager.
Martyn Rowson had worked at the site in Eastmoor Street, Charlton, since 1994.
He had been battling with lung cancer since last June but died on March 17 aged 47.
His wife of nearly three years Jane Rowson, 41, said: "Martyn loved walking the dogs, cooking, eating out and was very much a private family man."
"We were all very blessed to have known Martyn, and me especially to have been his wife.
"You could not have wished for a better husband and he will be sadly missed."
Martyn previously lived at Dumbreck Road, Eltham, before moving to Welling and finally Herne Bay where he and Jane lived in their dream house.
His funeral will be on March 31.
Anybody who knew Martyn can send a donation for a Cancer charity of the family's choice to A Welch & Sons Ltd, 94 Station Road, Herne Bay, Kent, CT6 5QB.
