Two men were taken to hospital during the early hours of this morning (August 24) after being attacked by a group in Southwark.

Police were called to Tower Bridge Road at around 2am to reports of two men in the street with injuries.

Officers believe that the pair were assaulted by a group of men who had left the area before police were called.

Paramedics also attended, and the two men, believed to be in their 20s, were taken to hospital.

Their injuries are not life-threatening.

A crime scene remains in place in the area and an investigation is ongoing.

No arrests have been made at this stage.

Police are asking any witnesses or anyone with further information to contact police quoting crime reference number CAD 836/28Aug.

London Ambulance Service has been approached for comment.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at 2.08am on Sunday, 28 August to reports of two men found with injuries in Tower Bridge Road.

“Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service.

“Two men, thought to be aged in their 20s, were taken to hospital where their injuries were assessed as not life-threatening.

“Initial enquiries suggest the pair were assaulted by a group of men who had left the area before police were called.

“Enquiries to establish the circumstances are ongoing and a crime scene remains in place.

“No arrests have been made.

“Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting CAD 836/28Aug.
