A 14-year-old boy was taken to hospital yesterday (August 26) after being stabbed in Lewisham.

Police were called at around 3.40pm by paramedics to a boy with stab injuries on Rangefield Road, Lewisham.

Following the incident, officers issued a stop and search power from 4.45pm yesterday until 4.45am this morning in the Downham area.

Lewisham Police said that this order was put in place due to “concerns over retaliation”.

The boy’s injuries are not life-threatening or life-changing.

Police believe that he may have been attacked in a local park.

No arrests have been made at this stage and the investigation continues.

Police are asking any witnesses or anyone with further information to contact police quoting crime reference number CAD 4828/26Aug.

Another stabbing occurred on the same road on August 11, with a teenager being rushed to hospital after being “attacked with weapons.”

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at about 15:40hrs on Friday, 26 August to reports of a male stabbed on Rangefield Road, Lewisham.

“Officers attended and London’s Air Ambulance attended.

“A 14-year-old boy was taken to a south London hospital with stab injuries.

“His condition has been assessed as not life-threatening or life-changing.

“At this early stage, it is believed that the victim may have been assaulted in a local park.

“There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.

“Anyone with information is asked to call police via 101 quoting reference CAD 4828/26Aug.”

Lewisham Police tweeted: “Following a stabbing and concerns over retaliation Inspector Fagan-Lee has authorised a stop and search power under Section 60 CJPO act 1994.

“Active from 4.45on 26/08/22 until 4.45am 27/08/22 in the area shown. #downham."

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 15.31pm on Friday 26 August to reports of a stabbing in Rangefield Road, Bromley.

“We sent an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car and an incident response officer to the scene. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.

"We took a patient to a major trauma centre."
