A man has been charged after a firearm and more than £30,000 were found during the search of a home in south east London.

Police officers saw a man approach another who was sitting on a moped before they briefly spoke and an exchange took place.

They saw one man pass another man an item, before £10 was passed back.

Officers tried to detain the suspect but he made off on foot before being restrained by officers and detained for a drugs search due to what the police had witnessed.

Police found a taser, snap bags of cannabis and several phones with what is alleged to have been drug dealing evidence on.

His address was later searched and police found £4747.60 in cash, more than one kilogram of cannabis and individual bags of cannabis that are estimated to have a street value of £30,000.

The man was charged on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class B drugs and possession of a firearm.

Greenwich MPS tweeted: “Charged for Possession with intent to Supply Class B and possession of a Firearm.

“Great work by SE Violence Suppression unit.

“Officers from violence suppression unit witnessed a male approach the suspect who was sitting on a moped, they briefly spoke and an exchange took place.

“Officers moved forward and could see the suspect pass the male an item, and the male pass back a £10 which the suspect held in his right hand.

“Officers went on to detain the suspect who tried to make off on foot and was restrained by officers, suspect was detained under section 23 of the misuse of drugs act for a drugs search due to what officers had witnessed.

“Found to have a Taser, snap bags of cannabis and phones with drug dealing evidence on.

“House search conducted and £4747.60 in cash recovered and over 1kg of cannabis located and 224 individual deal bags of cannabis potentially street value of £30k.

“Officers had already had an arrest in their shift and stayed on all night to get the handover complete and put together 60 exhibits.

“Early shift suppression unit picked up the investigation, got rapid drug run and firearms identification complete.

“Male charged and remanded.”
