A 19-year-old has been ordered to pay more than £250 for failing to buy a £2.80 train ticket in Bromley.
Ali Cingoz, from Birmingham, travelled on the train from Bickley to Bromley South on December 14, 2021.
Cingoz appeared in Bexley Magistrates’ Court on July 20, 2022 – charged with travelling without having paid for a ticket and with intent to avoid payment.
Cingoz was ordered to pay £251.80 – almost one hundred times the cost of the original fare.
This includes an £80 fine, £2.80 compensation for the ticket, £34 to victim services, and costs of £135.
The full amount must be paid by August 17, 2022.
